Biography

Liz Hamel has been a Jayhawk fan her whole life. She grew up in Chapman, Kansas, and went to KU for her undergraduate degree in psychology and Spanish. She later moved to Colorado to get an M.S.W. from the University of Denver and lived there for 14 years. Hamel's career background is in community social work, including community organizing, leadership development, popular education, and nonprofit program management. She has worked in various settings focused on social justice issues, mental health and recovery, and facilitating transformative group experiences with students.

Interests and hobbies

Hamel loves history, creative expression, music(als), animals, comedy, and watching sports.  She can often be found with a book at a coffee shop, out and about with family or friends, with her cat, Bedelia (she loves both dogs and cats), or by a body of water. She also designs and sells eclectic polymer clay earrings.
