Biography

Daniel Utterback attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, from 2003 to 2008, majoring in psychology. From there, he moved to Mankato, Minnesota, in 2010 and attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he gathered coursework and life experience in Mental Health Counseling and College Student Affairs, graduating in 2015. His next stop would be at South Central College, in North Mankato, Minnesota, in their TRIO Student Support Services office as an administrative assistant. Utterback then went back into higher education as a student to begin work on a Doctor of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision while continuing to work at South Central College. In 2019, he began working in the Career Development Center as the technology and data specialist before moving to Lawrence to begin work at the School of Business.

Utterback's work focus continues to be on graduate education and developing skills and knowledge pertinent to this growing area. His other areas of academic interest include first-generation college students, student veterans, LGBTQIA+ populations, and the effects of trauma on career development.
