Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012

LAWRENCE — The Marketing and Communications (MarCom) Competition honored the University of Kansas School of Business with four awards for publications in 2011. This is the third year in a row that the School of Business has received awards in the competition.

The school received platinum awards for "Research Profiles" in the brochure/educational category and "AIS Channels" in the magazine/educational institution category. It also received gold awards for "Annual Report of Finance" in the annual report/nonprofit category and "Dean's Report 2011" in the annual report/educational institution category.

"We are very pleased to see the School of Business receive recognition for our publications again this year," said Toni Dixon, director of communications for the school. "We have talented people in our communications office and supportive administration and faculty who make it possible for us to produce attractive, award-winning publications year after year."

The creative competition awards "any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs." Industry professionals judge entries based on excellence in quality, creativity and resourcefulness. The competition received more than 6,000 entries this year including publications from PR firms, design shops, freelancers, media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies.

"The MarCom awards are a compliment to our work, as we are judged in categories with other universities such as Notre Dame, University of Kentucky, Carnegie Mellon University and John Hopkins University," Dixon said.
