Business Leadership Program

Learn how to lead

Incoming freshman with a 28 or higher ACT (1260 or higher SAT) and 3.25 or higher high school GPA may apply to the Business Leadership Program. Students are involved in the program during their freshman and sophomore years. Eligible students will be invited to apply while completing the general freshman application to KU. Applications must be received by February 1st. Approximately 25 students will be selected to participate based on their application materials, demonstrated leadership characteristics, academic achievement and ability, extracurricular and community involvement, and commitment to take full advantage of the benefits provided to program participants.

Business Leadership Program members receive the following exclusive benefits:

  • Awarded $2,000 scholarship your freshman year.
  • Enrollment in courses designed to help you explore interdisciplinary connections between business classes and general education courses.
  • Participate in major and career exploration activities, develop social connections with fellow Business Leadership Program members, and build leadership skills.
  • Provided with the opportunities to make immediate connections with School of Business staff, faculty and representatives from business industries.
  • Given access to structured activities that will aid you in academic, professional and personal development, as well as join business clubs and organizations.
  • Provided with the opportunities to meet with Business Career Services Center professionals and receive personalized academic advising by Student and Academic Services advisors.
  • Given direct admission to the School of Business as a freshman. (NOTE: The standard is admission during your junior year.)
