Prospective Students

How to get in:

  1. Gain admission to the University of Kansas.

  2. Register as a "pre-business" student by filling out the appropriate information during the admission process or by e-mailing processing@ku.edu.

  3. To apply to the undergraduate program, fill out this form.

Students are admitted to the School of Business one of two ways (explained below):

Current and transfer students may apply to the School during the semester they will complete the following minimum application requirements:

  • Junior standing (60 credit hours)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall AND in business and economics coursework
    (both KU and non-KU credits)
  • Pre-admission coursework:
    • ACCT 200 Financial Accounting I
    • ACCT 201 Managerial Accounting I
    • DSCI 301 Statistics
    • IST 301 Introduction to Information Systems
    • ECON 142 Microeconomics
    • ECON 144 Macroeconomics

Students must also submit a professional resume at the time of application. Applicants satisfying these requirements are ranked by academic merit and considered for admission based on rank and available space.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall admission, February 15 - 5 p.m.
  • Spring admission, September 15 - 5 p.m.

Incoming freshmen are eligible for direct admission. Students must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Earn an ACT score of 25 or above or a SAT combined score of 1150 or above
    (math and critical reading)
  • Earn at least a 3.25 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Indicate a business major on application to KU

Extra information:

Transfer students


Students transferring to KU follow the same application procedures as current KU students. The requirements remain the same, as well. However, transfer students must send a transcript to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships for evaluation.  All transfer students should meet with a School of Business advisor.

International students


Admission and financial aid information for international students can be found at the Office of International Student & Scholar Services. International students must apply to KU before being admitted to the School of Business.
