Application Information

We are currently accepting applications for the Fall 2012 Finance Scholars class. Please refer to the information below for details on the application process. The application deadline is March 31, 2012.

Information Session

Learn more about the application process and the program. Get your questions answered. Hear from current Finance Scholars. Sessions are scheduled for:

  • March 9 - 2:30pm (RM. 424 SUM)
  • March 26 - 5:30pm (RM. 428 SUM)

Applicants should

  • Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a competitive career in finance
  • Have superior academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.4
  • Demonstrate exceptional initiative and leadership ability
  • Be a finance major with a graduation date no earlier than December 2013 (typically a sophomore for Fall 2012)

Application Process

Applicants will submit the following:
  1. Resume
  2. Cover letter
  3. ARTS form, and
  4. Responses to the following questions (Limit answers to 165 words per question):
    • What are your short- and long-term career goals?
    • Why do you want to be a Finance Scholar?

    Answer one of the following:

    • What would you contribute to the Finance Scholars Program?
    • Describe a time in your life where it was difficult to do the right thing.

Directions for Submitting an Application

  • Login to KU Career Connections
    -If you have not activated your account, visit 125 Summerfield to complete the registration paperwork.
  • Click on the Jobs/KU Career Connections Jobs tab
  • Under Keywords, type "Finance Scholars"
  • Click on the "KU Finance Scholars Program" job title to enter the application and submit your resume and other supporting documents

Other materials:

  • The name and phone number of two references. Faculty references are preferred, but not required. The selection committee may contact your references.
  • It is encouraged, but not required, to submit a faculty reference letter, preferably from the KU School of Business. References may be emailed to fsp@ku.edu.

Application Timeline

  • Applications accepted: January, 2012
  • Application deadline: March 31, 2012
  • Interviews for selected applicants: early April 2012
  • Finance Scholars will be selected by late April
  • FIN 302 will be offered in Fall 2012 on Fridays at noon.
