We are located at 646 Vermont in Suite 200 in downtown Lawrence, Kansas, 66044. We are co-located with the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. Our building is on the northeast corner of 7th and Vermont, and our entrance is located on 7th Street.

Who we are

Will Katz, Regional Director

Will has been a resident of Lawrence, Kansas since 1986. He came to Lawrence as an undergraduate at KU where he studied Philosophy and Russian. He received his B.A. in 1993, and earned his KU MBA in 2001.

He brings to this position a variety of professional and management experience from companies both large and small. He spent seventeen years at E and E Display Group, beginning in 1987 and culminating with a stint as Production Manager. He has also served as a leader in Fortune 50 companies--General Motors and Target.

He is passionate about working with small businesses to help them succeed in our community and surrounding communities. He is eager to promote entrepreneurship in his role as Director of the KU-KSBDC.

Maggie Bornholdt, Consultant

Maggie has been a consultant with the KU Small Business Development Center since 2003. She handles client consulting, seminar promotion, development, and implementation, and community outreach in a six-county region. She regularly travels to Franklin County to assist clients, and has experience in rural development and working with distressed businesses.

Maggie is a native Kansan and has a Bachelor's of Science from the School of Business and Public Affairs at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Prior to working at the KU-KSBDC, Maggie worked as a Tissue Recovery Technician at Midwest Transplant Network in Kansas City. Before that, she was a forensic death investigator for the Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office in Lima, Pennsylvania.
