Chair's Message

The mission of the University of Kansas School of Business Ph.D. program is to develop effective teachers and proficient researchers, well-educated in substance and methods of business research and capable of pursuing successful careers in academia or business.

The small size of our program makes individualized attention possible. Students have the option of specializing in one of the following eight areas: Accounting, Decision Sciences, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management.

In addition to having the research infrastructure of a comprehensive research university-- KU is one of only 32 public universities that belong to the prestigious American Association of Universities, a select group of universities chosen for the excellence of their research and graduate education-- the School of Business invests substantial resources in the form of dedicated world-class faculty, state-of-the-art computer hardware/software, various research centers, a behavioral lab, fellowships, scholarships, funding to attend conferences and work on research projects, numerous weekly colloquia, a best graduate paper award, and several teaching awards.

Placement of our graduates runs the gamut from major research universities to four-year teaching colleges. Some of our alumni have been placed at leading business schools, such as University of Iowa, Ohio State University, and Wharton, Pennsylvania. We offer an attractive financial aid package and Lawrence is a beautiful city with a relatively low cost-of-living.

I encourage you to consider our doctoral program. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. (Please send your inquiries to bschoolphd@ku.edu).
