Public invited to Economic Forecast Breakfast and Business Expo 2011 highlighting local Business owners

LAWRENCE ― The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce will present an inside look at the local and national economic landscape at its Economic Forecast Breakfast, Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Holiday Inn, 200 McDonald Drive. The public is invited to attend and gain an understanding of the economic challenges and opportunities for the next year.
Slated for 7:30-9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 the breakfast kicks off a full day of business-focused activities, specifically highlighting the capabilities of our local business owners. Mr. Michael S. Davern, CFA, Vice President, Director of Municipal Managed Money for Nuveen Investments will provide an expert look at the national economy. He brings a unique perspective to the conversation and has more than 23 years of investment experience. He will be joined by Professor Charles Krider from the University of Kansas School of Business, who will share his insights into the regional and state outlook for the coming year.
"The breakfast is an excellent opportunity to understand how national economic conditions affect us here in Lawrence and Douglas County," said Hank Booth, interim President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce. "The Business Expo will highlight the many capabilities of our local businesses. Join us for a day that will be both educational and fun."
Begin your day with the Economic Forecast Breakfast and follow it by attending the Business Expo to learn more about the Lawrence business community. The breakfast will be held in the Brazilian Room from 7:30-9 a.m. Reservations are required and tickets are $20 for Chamber members and $25 for future members. At 9 a.m., the doors to Business Expo 2011 will open offering visitors the opportunity to meet 80 local business owners and learn about the skills and capabilities to be found in our area. The Business Expo is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Local food vendors will be offering samples of their wares from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and there will be drawings for prizes throughout the day.
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization that promotes and enhances the economic vitality of Lawrence and Douglas County. The Chamber is the leading advocate on issues that affect the economic well being of the business community.
