Scavenger hunt winner, Hollis Santee
The University of Kansas School of Business Sustainability Team – known as “The Green Team” – sponsored an Earth Day scavenger hunt Thursday, April 21 in Summerfield Hall to raise environmental awareness among School of Business students.
The scavenger hunt guided 158 participating business students on a trail highlighting the School’s recycling stations. Students retrieved clues from recycling stations and returned to the Green Team’s headquarters in the Koch Commons; students could then enter in a raffle to win an iPad.
“The Green Team created the Earth Day event to actively engage students in being aware of the building’s recycling stations,” said Mark Strand, assistant to the associate dean and Green Team committee chair. “The scavenger hunt had high participation and reinforced the University-wide Earth Day events held this week.”
Hollis Santee, a Wichita senior double marketing and management major, won an iPad for participating in the scavenger hunt. The iPad was furnished by the Undergraduate Business Council.
Members of the Green Team include assistant dean Frank Marshall; professor Steve Hillmer; undergraduate Alex Etherington; graduate student RaeAnn Scharenberg-Handshy; and staff members Travis Arellano, Tammy Barta, Deb Deering and Cheryl Norwood.
