Three business professors win awards for published articles

University of Kansas School of Business professors Tailan Chi, Paul Koch and Jane Zhao have been awarded the 2010 Guy O. and Rosa Lee Mabry Best Paper Awards for their published articles.
The awards are given out yearly to recognize and encourage outstanding research by faculty members and include a $1,500 cash prize.
Chi’s article, “A Dynamic Model of the Choice of Mode for Exploiting Complementary Capabilities,” was published in 2009 by the Journal of International Business Studies. He joined the KU School of Business in 2003 in the management and leadership area.
Koch’s article, “Sell on the News: Differences of Opinion, Short-Sales Constraints and Returns Around Earnings Announcements,” was published in 2009 by the Journal of Financial Economics. He has been a faculty member since 1988, and teaches in the finance area.
Zhao’s article, “A Multilevel Perspective on Knowledge Transfer: Evidence from the Chinese Automotive Industry,” was published in 2009 by the Strategic Management Journal. She joined the KU School of Business in 2005 in the management and leadership area.
The awards are given by the KU School of Business Research, Evaluation and Development Team and are funded by an endowed gift from Guy Mabry, a distinguished alumni and member of the School’s Board of Advisors.
