School of Business announces ninth year of MBA Essentials

Friday, July 30, 2010

The program will be held at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park, Kan., Sept. 13 to Dec. 6.

“MBA Essentials offers systematic exposure to business principals that will help professionals ask the right questions in the workplace,” said Bill Beedles, finance professor and MBA Essentials director. “This program provides the essential ingredients of a management education without the investment needed for an MBA. It provides the groundwork to get to the truth in business.”

The 13 evening sessions are taught by KU School of Business faculty, teaching lessons in strategic planning, effective performance evaluation, building breakthrough marketing strategies and financial performance. MBA Essentials focuses on how to manage and lead associates, gain and retain customers and the implementation and execution of the knowledge gained during the program.

“Each course is taught by research-enlightened faculty, covering the most modern material available,” Beedles said. “The sessions are highly interactive and custom-designed for non-degree-seeking adults. As our economy is coming out of the recession, now is the perfect time to make an investment in a professional future. Companies are now faced with the challenges of managing positive growth. Without modern business knowledge, professionals run the risk of being left behind in the workplace.”

MBA Essentials is designed for people without prior business education; professionals of all backgrounds are welcomed to register. Companies with an employee enrolled receive a 10 percent discount for additional participants.
