KU School of Business publications win platinum and gold awards

The University of Kansas School of Business received a platinum and two gold awards for three of its magazines in the Marketing Communications (MarCom) Awards 2009.

"We are pleased that three of the School of Business publications have been awarded this recognition. We work to convey the professionalism and the excitement of our programs through our public relations materials and this is a confirmation thatour publications represent the School well," said Toni Dixon, director of communications for the school.

MarCom Awards were given to three publications in the Educational Institution category. "AIS Channels 2009" received the Platinum Award in the Magazine category. "The Dean's Report 2009: We're not business as usual" received the Gold Award in the Annual Report category. "Annual Report of KU Finance 2008: Building a Financial Community" received the Gold Award in the Magazine category.

The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The competition is sponsored by the organization, Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

Others recognized as platinum award winners in the educational institution category included Carnegie Mellon University, John Hopkins University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Flagler College and University of Pittsburgh.

The competition is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. There were approximately 5,000 entries in the various categories for the competition. Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts- marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive.

Platinum Awards — the top award in the competition — are presented to entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness.
