The University of Kansas School of Business has established a strong presence on the social networking sites Facebook and LinkedIn, allowing students and alumni to keep apprised of happenings at the School while also giving them the opportunity to network with each other.

The School of Business Alumni Group on LinkedIn has over 1,000 members. Discussion threads posted by alumni are varied, with many alumni using the group to search for jobs (one of the most useful services offered by the site) or discuss their industries and interests. The fast-growing group is also updated regularly with Business School news releases and event announcements.

The School also recently published a Facebook Page, which currently has over 200 fans. Fans of the School receive almost daily updates from the page, which closely resembles individual Facebook accounts, ensuring that news about the School appears on fans' home pages. The page has become a fast, effective way for the School to communicate with students and alumni about upcoming events and recent accomplishments. The page also features photos and videos from School events.

Both Facebook and LinkedIn have become an integral part of the School of Business communications strategy because the School recognizes the need to communicate with students and alumni using the most popular forums available, ensuring that students and alumni remain in close contact in a way that is "not business as usual."
