Greetings from the Business School Student and Academic Services Office!

The Spring 2009 semester is in full swing and already our students are enrolling in their Summer and Fall 2009 courses. All business students and most pre-business students have an advising hold on their enrollment and were sent an email reminder regarding the hold in early February. That means students must meet with an advisor, then their advising hold will be removed from their record. This is to ensure a timely graduation. Business and pre-business students must make an appointment in the School of Business Student and Academic Services office by calling 785-864-7500, or stopping by our office in 206 Summerfield Hall.

We have a new group of business students joining us in the Fall 2009 semester. As always, we had a phenomenal group of students apply. We admitted 366 students and of those, the average professional GPA was 3.32. We are very excited to be working with such high caliber students! The new admits completed an online orientation to the Business School, which is new this year. So far, we are receiving positive feedback from the students and will continue this in the future. In the past, we held a traditional orientation session which received marginal feedback. We have been working to improve the means by which we communicate our policies and expectations to our students. We are hopeful that this online means of communication will continue to be well received. New admits who completed the online orientation had their enrollment holds removed, but are also welcome to visit us if they have additional questions about their future plans and schedules.

Another change affects the managerial economics course, BE 301, which has been reduced from 4 credit hours to 3 credit hours starting in the Summer of 2009. We will be contacting students via email if this has any effect on their Summer or Fall 2009 graduation.

Best of luck to your students as they complete the Spring 2009 semester. We are here to help if you or your student has any questions.
