Tuesday, October 7, 2008

The School of Business Accounting 303 course, Introduction to the Accounting Profession, hosted ethics speaker Patrick Kuhse on Friday, October 10 in Woodruff Auditorium of the Kansas Union. Kuhse delivered a speech on business ethics titled "From Prominence to Prison: Why Smart People Do Dumb Things." He spoke to nearly 500 students about the eight critical thinking errors that can lead an otherwise ethical person from prominence to prison.

Kuhse, founder of www.speakingofethics.com, is one of the most in-demand speakers on business ethics and critical thinking skills in America today. His dynamic presentations have entertained, enlightened and inspired over 100,000 participants across the world. Patrick will share his journey from prominence as a successful stockbroker in San Diego to his involvement in a financial fraud scheme, flight from the U.S. to avoid prosecution, life as an international fugitive for four years and his subsequent self-surrender and incarceration for several years in both a foreign jail and U.S. prisons.

An Ethics Fellow for the University of Florida and Suffolk University, Patrick speaks to students and businesses across the country on how to recognize ethical dilemmas and implement effective critical thinking skills.
