Wednesday, October 1, 2008
On September 25, several School of Business students had the opportunity to learn about Kansas-Brazil trade relations at the fourth annual International Trade Conference in Wichita, KS. The conference, organized by the Kansas World Trade Center, featured Brazil and focused on the industrial and economic ties between Kansas and the Latin American country.
Panels presented on issues surrounding aviation, agri-business, economic sector and investment. School of Business student Veronica Ayala presented to participants on the Global Business Project, an international business course for graduate students, developed by a consortium of Centers for International Business Education & Research (CIBER). Other speakers included Rui Aquino, President, ABAG-General Aviation Association of Brazil; John Wojick, vice president of Sales Latin America and the Caribbean, Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and Leticia Phillips, Government and Institutional Relations-North America, Unica (Brazilian Sugar Cane Association).
"The conference was a great opportunity to network with companies doing business in Latin America while at the same time learning about current business conditions in Brazil," said Ayala, whose presentation took place during the Economic Sector and Investment portion of the event.
