KU Ph.D. alumna Martina Musteen receives national teaching award

KU Ph.D. alumna Martina Musteen recently won the 2008 Olympus Emerging Faculty Innovator Award for her dynamic teaching approach and motivational classroom style. Musteen was nominated by a student in her International Entrepreneurship course, a program she developed at San Diego State University where she is an Assistant Professor of Management.

During her time at KU, Musteen received numerous teaching awards from the School of Business. She earned her Ph.D. from KU in 2007 and her master's degree from CIMBA, Italy.

"To be honored for doing something that I love to do is incredibly gratifying," said Musteen. "More and more, we are seeing that entrepreneurship can contribute to solving global problems - poverty and climate change, for example - so my objective with every lesson plan is to inspire students to make a positive difference in the world through their entrepreneurial activities."

Now in its fourth year, the Olympus Innovation Award Program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated innovative thinking in higher education.
