Monday, July 7, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Professionals looking for a leg up in the business world can learn new skills this fall by enrolling in the University of Kansas MBA Essentials Program. This 13-session program teaches critical management and leadership skills on Monday evenings from September 8 - December 1 at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park.

"The MBA Essentials Program teaches lessons that business owners and managers can immediately put to work in their careers," said Bill Beedles, KU professor and faculty coordinator for the School of Business Center for Management Education. "Training budgets are tight with our current economy, and this program offers seasoned KU faculty and actionable ideas without the cost or commitment of a traditional MBA program."

The MBA Essentials Program is offered at a discount for those businesses interested in training multiple members of their teams. Organizations enrolling more than one employee will receive a 10 percent discount for additional participants.

The KU School of Business began offering the MBA Essentials Program in 1997 to provide business owners, new managers and others interested in furthering their careers with a condensed MBA certificate program.

Real-world solutions taught by KU Business faculty include filling gaps in strategic positions, effective performance evaluation, building breakthrough marketing strategies and evaluating financial performance.
