Assistant Professor Susan Scholz has recently earned a prestigious award for significant research contributions to the theory and practice of accounting. Scholz, also the Harper Faculty Fellow, was the recipient of the 2006 Deloitte/American Accounting Association Wildman Medal Award.

Named after John Wildman, former partner of what was then Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte), the award comes with a monetary gift that is intended to encourage researchers to turn their academic endeavors towards solving public accounting problems. The recipient is chosen based upon a committee appointed by the President of the American Accounting Assocation.

Scholz's article that earned her the award was "Auditor Independence, Non-Audit Services, and Restatements: Was the U.S. Government Right?" co-written with William R. Kinney and Zoe-Vonna Palmrose.
