Five students nominated for CFA exam scholarship

LAWRENCE - The KU School of Business is proud to announce the School’s five scholarship candidates for the June 2008 Chartered Financial Analyst exam. The students are Rasim Aroglu, Jakub Lichwa, Marc Mixon, Ryan Peschka, and John Spillane.

“With this outstanding group of CFA candidates, we are putting the spotlight on some excellent students” said Mark Hirschey, KU’s CFA Program Director. “They reflect the best of what KU has to offer in business education, and stack up well against top candidates from the very best business schools.”

The CFA Program is a three-year graduate-level program for investment professionals. Candidates for the program must study for and pass three levels of exams to earn a CFA charter. Exams are held at locations around the world and fees for each level of the exam range from $600-$1395.

The CFA charter is the designation of excellence in the investment community and reflects a fundamental knowledge of investment principles that are relevant in financial markets around the world. Recently, The Economist ranked the CFA Program as the gold standard among investment analysis designations. CFA charterholders play leading roles in investment companies, mutual funds, broker-dealer/investment banks, and research and academic institutions.

The CFA Institute is the world’s oldest society for investment professionals. It currently has more than 90,000 voting members and 135 societies worldwide. All agree to abide by a rigorous Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. For more information on the institute, visit http://cfainstitute.org
