Overflow arrangements for lecture with Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr.

The University of Kansas School of Business will broadcast streaming live video from the sold-out 2008 Vickers Lecture featuring Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr.  The public may view live video of the lecture in Room 120, Budig Hall on the KU campus. The lecture begins at 6:00 p.m. on April 30.

“We‘re thrilled at the tremendous response to our upcoming lecture with Chief Justice Roberts,” said School of Business Dean William L. Fuerst. “We’ve made every effort to ensure that anyone who couldn’t get tickets from the Lied Center can still view this event.”

The overflow viewing room in Budig Hall seats 999 and free admission will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The KU campus opens to public traffic at 5:00 p.m. Visitors should check signs for special restrictions at lots before parking.

The free tickets to the 2008 Vickers Lecture were distributed by the Lied Center in one hour after becoming available to the public.

Kansas Public Radio will also re-broadcast the 2008 Vickers Lecture with Chief Justice Roberts in its entirety on Sunday, May 4 at 8:00 p.m. on 91.5 FM. Video from the lecture will also be posted online after the event at the School of Business Web site, www.business.ku.edu.

The Vickers Lecture is named for J.A. Vickers, KU School of Business alumnus and founder of Vickers Petroleum Company, and his son, Robert. The lecture series began in 1969 and has brought to KU such distinguished presenters as George H. W. Bush, Yitzhak Rabin, Donald Rumsfeld, Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Kenneth Starr.

The lecture will be part of a two-day trip to KU for Roberts, during which he will meet with School of Business and School of Law students and faculty. Both schools played a significant role in bringing Roberts to campus. Roberts will be the first Chief Justice of the United States to visit KU.
