KU School of Business masters students go all over the world every semester. Here's a list of the places you could be going this year:
India
Description:KU Professor Joseph will teach the course, Marketing in the Global Environment, on the campus of the Asian School of Business. A "Marketing in India" module will be taught by ASB faculty. The program will include visits to regional companies and discussions with their upper-level executives. Cultural activities will include two-day trips and are included as part of this program. Costa Rica
Description:The School of Business is working with the University of Costa Rica to develop a short study abroad program in Costa Rica for the approximate dates Jan. 7 – 15, 2012. The program will include classes taught by business faculty at the University of Costa Rica and discussions with executives in companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Intel, and Costa Rican firms including micro-enterprises and a rural tourism cooperative on the Pacific Coast. France
Description:This program offers KU graduate business students a unique opportunity to see how businesses in France and the EU adapt marketing practices to various countries and cultures. It takes place at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce (ESC) in Clermont-Ferrand. ESC is one of the top business schools in France and has been KU's partner school for 60 years. The program focuses on various dimensions of the European business environment and guidelines for operating effectively in Europe. Students are assigned to multinational teams of KU and ESC students, and work with these teams on class projects as well as participating in some social events. The course is taught in English by ESC faculty and includes visits to local companies and discussions with French business executives. A regional tour of Clermont-Ferrand is included, with optional time in Paris or Lyon. Read moreContact: crose@ku.edu
China
Description: The class will attend lectures at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing and meet with Chinese graduate business students. Company visits will include firms such as Golden Meditech, Sohu.com, Black and Veatch, Invista, YRC Worldwide, and others in Beijing and Shanghai. We will also visit representatives of organizations such as the Kansas Department of Commerce International Trade Office and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Students will explore the culture of Shanghai and Beijing, with visits to the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and Shanghai's financial district, and will have an opportunity to ride the magnetic levitation (Maglev) train at 287 mph. Asolo, Italy
Description: The CIMBA program in Asolo, Italy provides a forum for graduate students to participate in unique business courses, while gaining valuable international experience. During the first 4-week session, all students take two courses, for a total of 6 credit hours. There are also three long weekends built into the first session so that students are able to travel and explore Europe on their own. During the 10-day session, all students take one course, for a total of 3 credit hours, and there are two-and-a-half free days during the session for independent travel. In addition to coursework, students will gain exposure to the Italian culture and business environment through plant tours, guest speakers and gourmet dinners, as well as cultural presentations and fieldtrips.Contact: lhazlett@ku.edu
Germany
Description: This three-week program near Frankfurt-Germany, is offered through a new partnership between the KU School of Business and the European Business School. The program includes lectures by EBS faculty on various aspects of the business environment in Germany and Europe. Visits to business organizations such as Merck, Opel AG, and the European Central Bank are included. An optional course in "survival German" is included as well.
