What are the application deadlines?
Do you offer a start date in the spring?
No, not for the full time program in Lawrence. We do offer spring admittance for the evening professional program at the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, KS.
I'm applying directly from my undergraduate; therefore I have no work experience. Do I stand a chance of being admitted?
It is preferred that incoming MBA students have at least two years of work experience, however there is always room for fresh talent! We expect our less experienced students to present strong academic and leadership credentials in their applications.
My application is complete. How long before I get an admission response?
Completed files will be reviewed on a monthly basis. Admission recommendations will then be forwarded to the Graduate School and they will issue an official admission offer via email. Please anticipate up to a week turnaround time.
What code should I use to submit my GMAT score to the KU MBA program?
Our GMAT code is 6871.
What is your average GMAT score, GPA and Work Experience?
GMAT: mid 500's. GPA: 3.0. Work experience: 2 years
Can the graduate test be waived?
No, the GMAT is required for all applicants.
Am I required to have my GMAT score before I apply?
No, you are not required to have your test scores at the time of applying to the MBA program; however your file will not be reviewed until we have it.
How much is tuition?
For current tuition and fee information, please visit KU Edwards Tuition.
I am an international student. When should I apply by?
November 1 for spring admission and May 1 for fall admission.
Do I have to take the TOEFL or IELTS?
The TOEFL or IELTS exam is required of all international applicants. It can be waived if an applicant can provide proof that the language of instruction throughout their education has been English. We prefer you take the IELTS over the TOEFL.
What is the difference between the TOEFL and IELTS?
They both test in reading, writing and listening (plus one additional test. TOEFL: structure [sentence completion] and IELTS: speaking). TOEFL is both paper- and computer-based. IELTS is only paper-based. For more information on the difference between the exams visit TOEFL vs IELTS.
Do you have a minimum TOEFL score?
Do you offer conditional admission?
We do not offer conditional admission. Applications must be complete before admission is offered.
Do you offer an online MBA degree?
At this time, we do not offer an online MBA degree.
I am a non-degree seeking student. How do I get enrolled?
You will need to apply online at The Office of Graduate Studies. The application fee for the non-degree program is $30. We will need your undergraduate degree transcript and a brief explanation as to why you want to enroll in our course(s). In general, non-degree students are accepted if they are taking credit at KU to transfer to another MBA program, or if they have previously completed an MBA at another AACSB accredited school and seek additional course work. Non-degree seeking students are limited in acceptance and may not be later admitted to the program.
I don't have an undergraduate degree in business. Can I still apply to the MBA program?
Are prerequisite courses required for your MBA courses?
I've been admitted but won't be able to start this term. What should I do?
Your admission offer is valid for one year after the term you have been admitted to. We will hold your application materials for that time. When you are ready to enroll, you will need to reapply (online application and fee only) for that term.
I want to petition to substitute a course, what do I do?
Students can't substitute/waive an elective course. Substitutions and waivers only apply to required courses. Fill out the Course Petition Form and drop it off in 124 Summerfield or fax to 785-864-5078. We will forward the petition on to the appropriate faculty person for a decision and email the results to you. Note: if you wish to transfer credit to reduce the number of hours for your program, only six hours of graduate credit (not distance-learning courses) taken at a regionally accredited graduate school may be transferred and applied to a program. Only work graded B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or higher may be transferred.
