Real-World Learning
Access to experiential learning opportunities is a significant component of the MSB-FIN program. Students are highly encouraged to apply their understanding of the business theory through experiential learning opportunities.
Applied Portfolio Management
Students enrolled in the
Applied Portfolio Management Program (APM) learn the skills necessary to become successful investors by managing an existing stock portfolio. The class is competitive, fast-paced, fun, and an incredible learning experience. More than 100 top executives and Wall Street professionals from all over the United States and other countries have participated in teaching the class.
Bloomberg TerminalMSB-FIN students have access to state-of-the-art Bloomberg terminals that are standard at all leading financial institutions. The Bloomberg information system provides current and historical data for a number of investment opportunities as well as powerful graphical and mathematical software. Students can also attain “Bloomberg Certification” in equities, fixed income and foreign exchange.
Internships
Students are strongly encouraged to complete an internship in finance between the second and third semesters of study. Especially valuable for those students entering the program with limited business experience, an internship is a great opportunity to apply skills learned throughout the program. Internships often provide students with differentiating advantages in the recruiting process and may even lead to full-time job offers upon graduation.
Meeting with Warren Buffett
Every year students are invited to attend the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. At the meeting, Warren Buffett, Berkshire’s CEO and arguably the world’s greatest investor of all time, answers questions from a crowd of business-minded individuals. In addition, students enrolled in the Securities Analysis course have the rare opportunity to sit down with Buffett for an exclusive group meeting. Only a handful of other universities have access to this extraordinary opportunity.
