A career in finance can be both challenging and rewarding. Large amounts of responsibility are entrusted to professionals early on in their careers and the pressure to succeed is high. Graduates of the MSB Finance program will be prepared numerous job opportunities including:
AnalystsStock and bond analysts provide assessments of the financial prospects of companies. They work for leading brokerage firms, investment banks and other financial institutions, often combining in-depth expertise on specific industries such as biotech, software, healthcare or energy and the analytical skills to assess complex financial structures.
Investment Bankers Investment bankers arrange financing for firms, take them public and arrange mergers and acquisitions. Successful professionals have a broad mix of quantitative and communication skills and rapidly develop expertise in specific industries and financing situations.
Portfolio ManagersPortfolio managers are responsible for both the strategy and day-to-day operation of portfolios at mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity firms and pension funds.
Private Equity Analysts An analyst working for a private equity firm or merchant bank values companies and evaluates opportunities, providing analysis of the financial, strategic and industry aspects of proposed and actual transactions. With more large firms going or staying private, this sector has experienced substantial growth.
Traders
Firms involved in the manufacture and distribution of oil, natural gas, agricultural products and industrial commodities often employ traders who help secure favorable prices, hedge against price fluctuations or make use of special insight or proprietary trading models.
