Location: Spooner Hall Commons

This workshop examines efforts by businesses to reduce their impact on the natural environment, focusing on non-traditional, innovative environmental management methods. Current Research on sustainable development, corporate environmental strategy, alternative policy tools, and emergent government regulation will be presented by researchers from academic institutions, research think tanks, and policy-relevant agencies.

Welcoming Dinner (for presenters, sponsors, and co-sponsors)
On Thursday, October 29, workshop presenters are invited to join us for a welcoming dinner starting at 6:30 PM at the Free State Brewery (636 Massachusetts Street) in the upstairs reserved room. The Free State Brewery is a very short walk from the Springhill Suites Hotel ( 5 minutes). Escort on foot from the hotel to the dinner venue will be provided at 6:30 PM. Please RSVP to sscales@ku.edu if you will be joining us for the welcoming dinner. Casual dress is recommended for this dinner.

Workshop Venue
The workshop will be held in Spooner Hall on the University of Kansas campus. Meetings will convene in the Commons area, which is located on the ground floor. Lunch will be served on the 6th floor of the Kansas Memorial Union in the Malott Room. The union is located directly across the street from Spooner Hall.

Gala Dinner (for presenters, sponsors, and co-sponsors)
On Friday, October 30, following the completion of the first day of the workshop, presenters are invited to attend a gala dinner held in the Ten Restaurant, which is housed in the Eldridge Hotel, located at 710 Massachusetts Street. The gala dinner starts at 7:00 PM and ends by 9:30 PM. An escort on foot is available from the Springhill Suites Hotel between 6:45 PM and 7:00 PM.

Recommended Attire
“Business Casual” is the recommended dress for the workshop meetings held on Friday, October 30, and for the Gala Dinner held during the evening of Friday, October 30. Causal dress is recommended for the welcoming dinner held during the evening of Thursday, October 29, and for the workshop meetings held on Saturday, October 31.

Travel Information
Hotel Accommodations
The KU CIBER office has reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott Springhill Suite Hotel for October 29, 30, and 31. Presenters will have their lodging paid directly by KU CIBER so reimbursement is not needed. Workshop attendees will need to pay for their rooms directly.

KCI airport is located east of Lawrence, KS, on Interstate 435. KCI airport has three terminals for most domestic airlines and some international airlines.

For workshop presenters, KU CIBER is providing privately arranged shuttle service between KCI and the Springhill Suites Hotel on Thursday, October 29 and between the workshop venue (Spooner Hall) and Kansas City International (KCI) Airport on Saturday, October 31. Once all flights are arranged, departure and arrival times of these shuttle trips will be established and posted. As needed, special arrangement will be made for a shuttle to KCI airport on Sunday, November 1. Workshop attendees are welcome to ride along in these arranged shuttles as space permits. If space does not permit, KU CIBER will arrange alternative transportation on an ad hoc basis at the attendees’ expense.
