Internships
An internship experience can significantly improve students’ job prospects. In fact, many internships lead to full-time employment. Internships offer opportunities to improve professional skills, to become acquainted with business environments, and to network with successful business professionals. They allow students to hit the ground running at their first job, leading to more responsibility and earlier promotions. Without a doubt, securing an internship is a great step towards career success.
Finding an InternshipEmployers looking for interns post their openings in KU Career Connections as early as a couple weeks into the Fall semester, with many companies hiring their summer interns during the Fall semester. Positions continue to be posted throughout the Fall and into the Spring semester, so students should begin their search as early as possible.
Internships For-Credit Some internships are qualified to earn students academic credit, however the nature of the work completed during the internship must meet the eligibility requirements set by the academic area that is the primary focus of the internship. See the documents linked below for more information about internship requirements and approval procedures.
